Experiential study during a one year tailored inter-professional experience to develop leadership skills and learn how to successfully integrate patient safety and quality improvement into a medical career. My primary project focused on resident participation in reporting Good Catch safety events and increasing recognition of the importance of improving our system to reduce preventable harm while fostering a culture of responsibility at our institution.

Served as primary care provider and sick call coordinator; director of preventive medicine including reportable diseases, immunizations, camp sanitation, water treatment, and work-rest cycle determination to mitigate heat stress; coordinated pre-deployment evaluation such as automated neurological assessment metrics (computerized TBI screening) and readiness including malaria prophylaxis, uniform treatment, and determination of fitness for duty; coordinated triage and evacuation plans for our troops stationed across 18 locations in North America, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East; conducted annual review of standard operating procedures for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive weapons; directed pharmacy supply and disposal of medical waste; and developed staff training including implementation of an AHA accredited BLS certification program.
